Dragon Quest IX nearly done, says Wada

According to this, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has confirmed that DS-exclusive RPG Dragon Quest IX is nearing completion, although he fell short of giving a release date for the game. Apparently, online play and the single-player “experience” are being tweaked at the moment, but the bulk of the RPG’s sure-to-be-considerable content is wrapped up.

Dragon Quest is one of the most popular games franchises in Japan, although Europe failed to take a particular shine to Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, the only full PS2 title in the series to see light of day here. There’s no detail on any European release for the ninth game as yet.
