According to this, SCEE has confirmed that PlayStation 3 has hit the million sales mark in the UK, meaning the machine has reached the milestone faster than PS2.

The earlier Sony console took 50 weeks to reach 1 million British units, whereas PS3 was only released on March 23 last year. By contrast, Wii took 38 weeks to reach 1 million in the UK, while Xbox 360 took just under 60 weeks.

PlayStation 3 reached 1 million sales in Europe in June 2007.
