Microsoft seeking to build “totally new LIVE experience”
February 18th, 2008 @ 06:55
According to this job posting, Microsoft is looking for staff to help in “building the games, the console interface and logic, and the server support for a totally new LIVE experience.”
The ad continues, “Both the games and the dashboard experience will be deeply paired with dynamic server support to create a compelling, fresh scenario each time.”
That’s wicked, Microsoft. Can whoever gets the job make it so we can retrieve our GamerTag without the service being “unavailable” for days on end? Thanks a lot.

I’ve always seen the Home stuff Sony have been working on as a bit of a “nice thing for those who want it” but thought that a much more streamlined Live experience is where I would do my online gaming. However spotted some interesting comments from the Warhawk devs related to the integration they are adding for the next patch release …

(Worthy of a new item itself Pat?)
In particular the idea of a non-game specific lobby. So extending the idea of a party a little further - get a group of friends together plan and play one title, exit out and go on to another - whilst still keeping everyone together. Maybe Sony have actually taken the gaming aspects of home into account too?
Final comment of the dev
“So I gotta say that I’m actually super relieved that we’re putting in *REAL* legit value for players and *NOT* making HOME a portal for SONY to jam branding and marketing schwag down player’s throats! As a gamer, I’m excited *and* relieved to see the direction HOME is taking.”
