UK journalists are currently being shown a super-secret PS3 game by Sony, but it looks as though some people just can’t keep themselves to themselves. According to this, the title sees you play as one of two main characters in a tale of revenge spanning eight US states and eight days, and incorporates Google Maps as a key part of its play.

“You play as one of two characters,” said the man in the know. “Both have their own story line and both have their own abilities and specialties and what not. One character is a bad guy, the other a good guy. The bad guy is out for revenge on his former mob team who left him out to dry and the other is a detective who’s son has been kidnapped by the mod syndicate. The two join up to get revenge or what ever.

“The animation system is like nothing you’ve ever seen.”

The mole added, “Think of it as an action [movie]. A non stop ride from start to finish. We want you always moving and going and not expecting what’s next.”

Sounds very intriguing. More soon.

  5. It does sound bonkers. It really wouldn’t surprise me, though.

Maybe I’m reading too much into the google map thing but perhaps it is time for other tech to be used in some games too.

Like getting an email saying your nemesis was spotted somewhere in your town and you had to track them down - well like that except a good idea ;).

Wasn’t it the gizmondo that tried using GPS in a game?

  8. The post says that the name’s been changed from Eight Days now.

  9. pretty sure the BBC guy was talking about an ‘09 game. Not that I credit the blog entry that originated this story with any credence whatsoever regarding the release date of Eight Days and/or whatever the BBC guy was actually talking about.

  10. Yeah, it could easily be bollocks. I think we might be waiting at least a few more weeks before we know more, from the sound of it.
