Sony dates MGS4 bundle as “late Q2 2008″

February 27th, 2008 @ 11:12

That June 12 release date for MGS4 is looking shaky. Sony just put out a press release saying the US MGS4 bundle will release in “late Q2 2008″.

“To coincide with the much-anticipated North American launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in late Q2 2008, SCEA will introduce a PS3 bundle, which will include an 80GB PS3, the upcoming blockbuster Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for $499,” said the release.

Sounds as though Konami doesn’t have a concrete date for Snake’s latest as yet. Speaking to videogaming247 just now, a senior UK sales source said that “summer” in Europe is as good as it gets for the stealth-action title at the moment.

As previously mentioned, Konami is aiming for a worldwide launch for MGS4.

  1. June 12th is the date which appears in this week’s Famitsu, the first time it’s been listed as far as I’m aware.

They’re probably being cagey in case there’s slippage and such.

  2. It may well hit Japan a few weeks early. I’m not surprised that they’re being touchy about announcing firm dates. Doing a global launch of something as big as this is a little “tricky”.
