Mario Kart Wii supports eight-player Battle Mode, wheel is rubbish
February 28th, 2008 @ 06:44

So says this. The game - releasing on April 11 in Europe - supports 12 players in straight races but eight in the famed Battle Mode. A reason to be cheerful, nonetheless.
Unfortunately, word is spreading from playtests that the Wii Wheel designed for use with the game is essentially rubbish. You can still play it with the Classic pad or even a GameCube controller though, so never fret.

More Wii games should have classic controller support for those of us who are waggle-challenged.

yeah, I’d like developers to put their money where Iwata’s mouth is and just use the Wii Remote as a pad, with its two buttons. Saves faffing about with nunchucks.

“Something else we forgot to mention is the chatroom function in the online play. Nintendo haven’t given players the freedom to chat freely, but players can choose from a selection of phrases that best fits their mood. “I’m happy”, “I’m sad”, that kind of thing.”

I couldn’t even be bothered to do a story on all that text chat stuff. The whole notion’s just daft.
