Million “premium price” PS3s in UK is gratifying, says Maguire
March 3rd, 2008 @ 12:02
SCEE boss Ray Maguire reckons 1 million PS3 sales in the UK is “gratifying”, especially as the machine has been pitched as a “premium” product.
“Achieving one million PS3 sales faster than both PSOne and PlayStation 2 is even more gratifying considering PS3 is a premium product introduced at a premium price,” he said. “Our momentum will continue with the introduction of in-game communication in the summer, firmware update 2.4 and the strongest line-up of games through our third party partners and our own studios. I’d personally like to thank our trade and business partners for helping us on the start of the PS3 journey.”
The console went through the million mark in the middle of February, achieving the milestone faster than either PS2 or PSone.

Is that ‘one’ like the Queen uses it? Are you royalty, Pat?

It’s the same one, but used in an Alf Garnett fashion. I do wish they’d drop the bloody price, though.

The new GT5P bundle’s a complete and utter pisstake when you see the 80GB MGS4 one in the States.
They get an 80GB BC-enabled unit with a Dual-shock and a highly anticipated game for ~£250
We get a 40GB non-BC model with a Dual-shock and an extended demo for….. £300
>:-(

Just spoke to them. Apparently they’re going to announce the bundle date today or tomorrow.

That’s the Gran Turismo bundle, not the MGS bundle, right?

Yep.
