Disgaea confirmed for DS
March 5th, 2008 @ 14:30
So says this. Apparently the newest form of the turn-based strategy series is in the latest issue of Famitsu and is titled Disgaea DS: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon.
This is the first ever edition of the game for a Nintendo platform, according to that report. No other details are available for the game as yet.

Makes sense. I’m currently struggling to enjoy the first PS2 game at the moment

We’re thinking of buying my son a DS for Easter. Now there’s a stroke of luck!

Poor lad’s never going to see it!

Are you properly into Disgaea, Blerk? I tried Phantom Brave and struggled a bit, I have to admit.

Disgaea is the best strategy RPG ever created.
It’s a little bit more traditional than Phantom Brave in that movement is grid-based rather than the “free-roaming within a circle” thing that Phantom Brave does. But they’re essentially quite similar. Disgaea 2 would be the pinnacle if its story wasn’t a little sub-par compared to the original game. It’s proper mental, like.

Aren’t they gigantic? The circle thing in the Phantom Brave did put me off a bit. So many possibilities means very long game. Is Disgaea a bit tighter?

You can finish the story modes of both Disgaea and Phantom Brave in about 30 hours. If you want to keep going then the potential is practically endless - I know people who’ve put more than 100 hours into them.

When you say “people” are you really talking about yourself?

Disgaea 3 might be a good try-out when it releases in the US, then. Ta.

“When you say “people” are you really talking about yourself?”
Nope - I tend not to play stuff into the ground. Once I’m done with the story mode, I’m done. I think I played about 35 hours in Disgaea 1, 28ish in Disgaea 2. Of course, it’s perfectly possible to level through the roof and play random levels until doomsday, but my games backlog is far too large to allow me that luxury. ^_^
