DoDonPachi and Ketsui for XBLA

March 5th, 2008 @ 16:11

Jesus. The world’s not ready. According to this, Cave shooters Ketsui and DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou Black Label are going to be released on XBLA at some point. If you’ve never heard of them, watch the following videos to get an idea of what to expect. No idea on date or territories for these as yet.

Update: This sounds a bit cock-eyed. Apparently the games are going to be retail packages, not XBLA games, so don’t get your hopes up about being able to play these outside Japan just yet.

  1. I’m too old for these games. :-(

  2. They’re insane. And probably completely unplayable without an arcade stick.

  3. I have DoDonPachi on my Xbox through the wonders of MAME. It is indeed totally mental.

I can see Stevas being happy though, especially if they tart these games up a bit

  4. /brain melts reading the title, let alone looking at the gameplay

  5. I think stuff like this stops becoming a game TBH. There’s almost no skill. Well, that’s to say there’s only 1 way of doing it, and that’s very skillful. But walking down the same difficult path that doesn’t change and leaves you no options isn’t very skillful, no matter how hard the path may be.

On the news: As far as I read on various sites, there’s no word in Famitsu that these two games will be released on XBLA. Apparently they’ll be retail packages…

As Japanese retail games are almost never region-free, this is an important issue… :/

  7. Ah, shit. Thanks. I’ll update the story.

  8. Done.
