Xbox 360 beats PS3 in Japan for third week

Rockstar North’s Neil Corbett has seemingly posted on rllmuk to say that the Xbox 360 version of GTA IV is “superior” to the PS3 SKU and that the Xbox 360 DLC is by no means as massive as we were previously led to believe.
“As it stands the Xbox 360 version has the smoother framerate and far faster loading times (without any installing) but the PS3 version does have that warm feeling with bleached out sunsets and the like,” he said. “The extra content of the 360 version is significant but nothing like an ‘extra Island’ at all- as the lead platform it is currently the superior version however. Just you wait until your first windscreen-flying experience.”
There is, obviously, no way of checking this is legit and Rockstar isn’t so much given to saying anything away from official statements, so make of it what you will.

Recent previews have suggested the versions are closer than imagined but that there are clear differences in favour of the 360

Would seem like an odd thing for them to say in public, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s actually true.
When are we going to see the end of this “PS3 as an afterthought” thing, though? Sony must be gnashing their teeth.

I think we kind of already are seeing the start of it, Blerk. Things like COD4 and Burnout Paradise have shown it can be done and as the install bases get closer the lead development focus should shift somewhat

Deffo 360 for me. Even if I have got my PS3 by then, I want to be able to play the DLC, should I feel the need.

Apparently that guy’s from QA, Blerk. Might just not have “realised” that he’s not supposed to really talk about differences in console versions on gigantic games in public

I’ll believe it when I see it. I am sure that MS will try to squeeze every possible penny out of this release, and
I don’t think that Rockstar are the only ones who know how to use viral marketing for all that it’s worth.

I reckon you’re going to see Microsoft going absolutely tonto on the marketing over Easter. They really see it as a key game.

I’m looking forward to some real people getting to play it so that we can find out what it’s really like. Everything’s been through the hype filter at the minute.
Of course, I’m unlikely to get a go at it myself. Which kinda sucks, tbh.

I have no idea when I’m going to play it. At the moment it’s tricky for me to be able to play anything for any length of time in the living room. That’s why I’m playing PC games at the moment. I think I’m going to try to make an exception for this, though.
