Ubisoft alters RAM and disc space spec requirements for Assassin’s Creed PC

Ubisoft issued a new fact sheet for the PC version of Assassin’s Creed this morning, showing altered recommended specs for the action game.

Disc space has been dropped to 8Gb from a previous 12Gb, and there’s now no mention of the recommended 3Gb of RAM listed in for Vista in the previous spec. The only other change we can see is that DirectX 9.0 libraries are now going to be included on the disc. Video and CPU requirements are unchanged. The game releases in April. Processor: Dual core processor 2.6 GHz Intel® Pentium® D or AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 3800+ (Intel Core® 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or better recommended)
RAM: 1 GB Windows XP / 2 GB Windows Vista
Video Card: 256 MB DirectX® 10.0–compliant video card or DirectX 9.0–compliant card with Shader Model 3.0 or higher (see supported list)*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0–compliant sound card (5.1 sound card recommended)
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 or 10.0 libraries (included on disc)
DVD-ROM: DVD-ROM dual-layer drive
Hard Drive Space: 8 GB
Peripherals Supported: Keyboard, mouse, optional controller (Xbox 360® Controller for Windows recommended)

    I really can’t be arsed/can’t afford to keep up. I need to have a PC sugardaddy who kits me out with the latest gear twice a year.

  5. My PC will run it, but only because I bought it at Christmas. I can’t be arsed to play it, however.

  6. The midrange GPU in the recommended specs above is an 18 month-old card. Minimum CPUs are from the same period.

  7. Fair enough. I do know worryingly little about up-to-date CPU and GPU stuff.

  9. Yeah - my issue with the list isn’t because of the size of the specs or whatever, it’s because I haven’t a clue whether my computer actually meets those specs or not.

    Well, that’s a bit of a lie - I know for a fact it wouldn’t be able to run the installer. But you catch my drift.
