Rockstar “pleased” at Manhunt 2 decision
March 14th, 2008 @ 13:33

Rockstar’s just made a statement on the decision this morning to grant an 18 certificate to Manhunt 2, clearing it for release in the UK.
“We are pleased that the VAC has reaffirmed its decision recognizing that Manhunt 2 is well within the bounds established by other 18+ rated entertainment,” said the company. “Rockstar Games is committed to making great interactive entertainment, while also marketing our products responsibly and supporting an effective rating system.”
And that’s that. All that remains to be seen now is how many people will actually buy it.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if EA took over Take Two before it came out and decided to can the game so as not to court bad publicity?

That’s a very good point, actually. I’d be surprised if EA would ever release anything like this.

Absolutely.
It’s gotta be worth buying just out of principle, and so we can shock our grandchildren by how tame it is compared to whatever they’ll be playing.

I do bet it’s a bit pony, mind. I know Kris Eurogamer really didn’t think it up to much. Still worth a go though, innit. Just for fun.

It’s not as good as the first. Not terrible, though. Some nice ideas with the Wii controls (trying to keep the remote dead still while someone’s looking into the shadows at you) but it’s really just unpleasant for the sake of it this time. And you’ll have guessed the twist within the first five minutes.
