Martin Bandier - CEO at Sony/ATV Music Publishing, the holder of the John Lennon-Paul McCartney music copyrights - has said that he’s interested in releasing a Beatles-specific version of Guitar Hero with Activision.

“It’s something we have talked about and something I’d like to pursue,” he said.

The company’s attitude to the Beatles catalogue has become more relaxed of late, with American Idol being allowed to run shows focused solely on Beatles tracks for the first time in recent weeks.

Bandier’s comments come after the recent announcement of the first “band” version of Acitvision’s gigantic rhythm action franchise in Guitar Hero: Aerosmith.

Just a hunch, but we suspect John Lennon may be spinning in his grave.

  1. That would be great I reckon. GH often feels like such a missed opportunity for me as many of the songs are crap. I mean, the game mechanic is fantastic, but when you don’t like what you’re playing along to, it kind of dulls the experience.

Anyway, it’s sold 800 trillion copies so what do I know.

  2. I can’t work out if this is good or evil. I mean, it’d be brilliant, but is nothing sacred any more? I’m sure a certain Superstar will have some thoughts on the matter.

  3. He need to recoup some £24m. I’m sure he’d be delighted for 25% of all the DLC on The Beatles Pack. :)
