Operation Flashpoint 2 confirmed for “winter” release
March 19th, 2008 @ 16:25

Codemasters has just confirmed that Operation Flashpoint 2 is currently down for a winter release and a formal date announcement can be expected shortly.
The game’s “launch timing is to be revealed as a countdown over next couple of months,” a spokesperson told videogaming247.
Operation Flashpoint was a breakthrough PC shooter in which players could use vehicles as well as their feet to accomplish missions. PC fans loved the “realism”.
The sequel was originally under development at Bohemia Interactive, the team behind the first title, but has since been moved to an internal team at Codemasters and renamed Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising. The game’s scenario is a Russian-Sino-US conflict.
This is listed for release on PS3 and 360 as well as PC. More soon.

I’ve not heard of this game, how does it compare to COD4 in terms of gameplay?
OK the interweb answered that for me, it’s dated a bit

The first one’s years old. They’ve been planning a sequel for an awfully long time. Not sure without checking but it’s been in the works for a good while.

You CAN NOT compare operaton flashpoint to COD4. Not even in the same category.
Operation flashpoint is pretty much a “war simulator.” You need to play smart, like a real soldier would or you die. It has a semi steep learning curve. Very rewarding game when you get the hang of it, understand it and can play with enough smarts to excute your own tactics and see them unfold in real time. Ranks up there as one of best games ever IMO. I hope it better than ARMA, ARMA was pretty disappointing.
