March 20th, 2008 @ 16:25

Eurogamer’s published what appears to be the first online review of Mario Kart Wii. The site’s given it an 8.
The UK’s Nintendo Official Magazine published the first review of the racer, which got scanned earlier this week.
Just goes to show.

A nice review by EG. I was intially a bit surprised and disappointed to see the 8, but in all honesty, the review reads like a 9/10 game that’s been docked a point for a couple of stupid design decisions.
I have to say I’m particularly disappointed that you (apparently) can’t play the 4-race cups in multi-player. That’s been my default way of playing Mario Kart since I first put thumb to pad on the series and I just can’t see the sense in axing it.
I still pre-ordered it though…

You can’t play the championships in multiplayer, sadly. What personally annoyed me even more was that offline battle mode sticks 8 AI opponents in with your 4 human players. Baffling decision.
The choices of ‘classic tracks’ will surprise a few, too.
