SCEE to cut PS3 game prices in the autumn
March 23rd, 2008 @ 09:18
According to this, SCEE’s planning to drop certain PS3 titles to €40 this autumn. There’s no source given for this, but we’ll check with Sony on Tuesday (tomorrow’s a bank holiday in the UK, remember).
Apparently, the titles up for reduction are:
- Resistance: Fall of Man
- Lair
- Folklore
- One Championship Edition Formulated
- MotorStorm
- Ridge Racer 7
- Heavenly Sword
- Genji

Most of those games you can get for 40€ or less already, so that’s not much of a price cut.
By the way, Folklore is, in my opinion, the most underrated game on the PS3 so far.

Most shop here in DK sell them cheaper anyway, especially used copies. I picked up Motorstorm and Resistance pre-owned for about £35 total.

@Syrok: remember though, we’re just talking R.R.P. If the RRP is 40Euro, then sites like Amazon and Play will sell then at a discount, meaning they’ll be even cheaper.

I reckon something’s a bit wrong with this. It’s March and they’re saying there’s a €40 in the autumn? I think someone’s got their wires crossed.

@morris: That’s true and the reason why stopped buying games in stores, espescially since the stores in my region have decided that all PS3 games should cost 60€ at least no matter how old they are.

Where does it talk about Autumn in that article? The French word for Autumn is ‘automne’, for reference.

Oh, wait - were you looking at the dodgy Babelfish translation? I think it means the prices were ‘to fall’ not that they’ll be available at that price ‘from the fall’. If you look at the last sentence, it says they’re available at the new price ‘from now on’, so I surmise it’s an immediate drop.

Yeah, it’s the “fall” reference. I’ll check with SCEE.

[…] so I surmise it’s an immediate drop.
That would explain why all Amazon shops have dropped the price to €39.99 already.

Don’t worry, Pat - Next-Gen.biz can’t read French either:

Don’t worry, Pat - Next-Gen.biz and C&VG have fallen into the same trap.
