Decoding and re-encoding an HD movie into a portable AVC file would take hours - yes, even on the awesomely powerful, sentient supercomputer that is the PS3.

Far more likely is that a gig or two of the 50GB BD houses a ready-encoded portable version that’ll simply be copied off onto memory stick, a process that shouldn’t take more than a couple of minutes.

It is something that the PS3-PSP will do eventually. I wonder how long it takes the PS3 to convert 90 mins of film.
