Sega Europe on Sonic Unleashed: “No comment”

March 25th, 2008 @ 08:23

Sega Europe has just issued a “no comment” to videogaming247 on the validity of the Sonic Unleashed content that appeared over the weekend.

Shots and a video hit the web on Friday, apparently taken from an official FTP server. A German site claimed Sega Europe had confirmed the validity of the media, but then immediately retracted the story.

If those assets aren’t real, we’re Dutch. And we’re not. You’ll just have to wait for official details.

  1. I love how companies always do this.

“Look here are some screenshots of your game. We want to know more, we want to help you get it across to prospective players, now can you tell us a bit more about it or confirm its existence for us?”

Yup, great help. Hope it’s a bit better than the last stinkhole “next gen” sonic games.

  2. The video looks rubbish (gameplay wise).

  3. Looks just like Sonic Adventure to me.

  4. It looks just like Sonic Rush crossed with Sonic Riders. The boost button is lifted straight out of Rush.

It certainly doesn’t look like Sonic Adventure, given that it has mostly 2D gameplay on a 3D plane, whereas Sonic Adventure was all 3D, behind-Sonic chase cam. Although the video does evidence SOME 3D gameplay. I’d guess at the sunny white city seen in some of the screenshots is a hub world, but actual gameplay will be nearly all “2.5D”

  5. Most of the gameplay in Sonic Adventure was holding down a stick in one direction and jumping a bit, surely? That’s how I remember it, anyway.

  6. Up, instead of right. ;)

  7. :)
