Amazon.com PS3 80GB sales skyrocket
March 26th, 2008 @ 06:25
After slipping out of Amazon.com’s top ten recently, PS3 is back with a vengeance.
Now firmly placed at number 10 it has seen it’s rise by a whopping 54% in the last 24 hours at the time of writing.
We’re not quite sure as to the reason for the surge, but we doubt SCEA’s complaining.

Has the Grand Theft Auto effect started early? Or are there more ‘80gb to be discontinued’ rumours abound?

I reckon it’s GTA. Mike said so in his original piece but I took it out because we don’t know.

Or it could be… MGS.

MGS is a definite system seller imho.
It’s certainly the first game that is actually making me wish I owned a PS3.
And I really, really wish Sony would release that 80GB PS3 + Dualshock 3 + MGS4 bundle over here.

Actually, at the time of writing, it ‘was’ the 40Gb version. However, this morning, the 80GB has appeared out of nowhere with a higher sales spike than the 40GB, and the 40GB has dropped off completely.
It does say “in the last 24 hours” though, so I guess Amazon.com must have updated whilst I was asleep.

The MGS4 PS3 is a 40, btw.
