Yet another 80GB PS3 rumour
March 26th, 2008 @ 21:38
This reports that there’s the possibility of an 80GB PS3 SKU coming to the UK this summer, citing sources such as HMV staffers and Cosco cashiers.
According to SCEE, “There’s no official word on an 80GB PS3 coming to the UK.”
Just remember all this, OK?

Just bloody well do it, SCEE. You big bottom boils.

And launch the flamin’ DS3, already. And put it in the box with the 80gb machine you’re not giving us.

It’s surely got to happen now. Given Sony’s experience in America (where the 80GB model has seen pretty decent levels of demand) there is just no logical sense in holding this back in Europe.
Like Blerk says, though, I just hope they bundle a Dualshock 3 with it (and, of course, launch the DS3 at the same time) and stop dicking around with the Sixaxis.
Most of all though, Sony need to do something to counter the recent 360 price cuts - the 40GB model needs to lose at least another £50 (ideally just undercutting the 360 Elite) and I’d hope and expect the 80GB to come in at around the £300-350 mark.
And you never know, I might actually buy one in time for Christmas!

I wouldn’t put it past SCEE to give us an 80gb which is basically a “PS2-less” 40gb machine with a bigger drive, though. Don’t get too excited yet.

Shhhh! Don’t give them ideas!
(Though sadly it really wouldn’t surprise me that much if you were right…)
