I can’t remember if I watched the last trailer or not. I’ll watch this one, though.
What I really want is some gameplay footage. Hurry it up!

There was gameplay in the last one wasn’t it? I bet 2cents that their server will crash again.

I don’t remember seeing any non-cutscene gameplay at all as yet. Anyone got a link to the last trailer?
March 27th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
There was some gameplay in the last one, but (obviously) there was no HUD. There was a split second bit with a car turning a corner, which was clearly right out of the game. I don’t know why there’s an obsession with seeing gameplay, people will find it much more rewarding if they leave some things to be discovered.

I just like to see what I’m (not) buying. Although I’m sure it’ll be brill, I don’t like buying stuff on the basis of cut-scene trailers. There doesn’t need to be loads of it, just a few minutes of cut-together highlighty stuff. Much more compelling than obviously non-game trailers.

Yeah Blerk. Why do you want to see game play in a games trailer?
March 27th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Maybe I’m being unreasonable?
March 27th, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Also, when are they going to release details about the soundtrack? I really want to know what they’ve lobbed in there this time.

I still don’t see the fuss. I don’t need to see gameplay of GTAIV to know what I’m buying. I don’t need to see 20 minutes of a film to know that I want to go and see it. I think things are much better when you go in to them without any preconceptions. With something like GTA, it’s not a risk to go without seeing any gameplay footage.
Same with the soundtrack. Wouldn’t it be great if you were driving along, and suddenly a song came on that you loved, and it was a total surprise? The constant information overload of the internet has created a situation where people need to know all and everything immediately.

Hey, why can’t I edit my comments any more?
I was going to add that the Edge preview this month mentions Queen’s “One Vision” and Alexander O’Neal’s “Criticize”, which suggests a much broader range of music this time around.

Whoops, sorry. I’ll nudge mart.

Sometimes the yellow box comes up but when I click it it says “fails to load comment”, other times the yellow box doesn’t pop up at all.
I appreciate where you’re coming from, Zumi, but I don’t need everything to be a complete surprise. I’d rather they kept the storyline to themselves so that how the game unfolds is fresh, but I’d like to know at least some of the other stuff to help me with my purchasing (or not) decision.
It’s a bit like going into the bakers for a lovely hot pasty and them refusing to tell you what’s actually in the pasty, other than reassuring you that you’ll find it suitably tasty. You have to take their word for it that it isn’t a dog food and bogie pastie, and although you’re fairly sure it won’t be, it would be nice to be able to break the crust and have a quick shufty first to be certain.
Er. I think I might’ve overcooked the pasty analogy a bit there.

I’ll get him to take a look now.

Have you ever played a game where you know absolutely nothing about it? I recommend it.
March 27th, 2008 at 3:54 pm
No, I haven’t. I don’t like to “buy blind”, because there’s far too much crap out there. I don’t have the time or money to risk on misjudged purchases.

What browser Blerk?
Test edit - hmm, seems ok
March 27th, 2008 at 3:59 pm
Firefox 2.0.0.13. I’ll try with IE.
March 27th, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Nope, not working from IE either. Bummer.
March 27th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
That is very weird, I can’t replicate any problem at all!
March 27th, 2008 at 4:08 pm
Let’s try with a different user, shall we?
March 27th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
Heh. Just the same.
My last comment is the only one that gets the yellow box, when I click on it I get ‘loading comment’ then ‘load comment failed’. When I return to/refresh this page, the yellow box doesn’t appear any more.

Me too, Blerk. As soon as I’ve commented I can edit. However, I can’t go back to old posts and edit.
