GTA IV gets BBFC certificate

As if there was ever any doubt. The BBFC green-lit GTA IV for UK release today, giving the game an 18 certificate. The title releases for 360 and PS3 on April 29.

I still think the GTA games should really be 15 certificates.

Me too. I suppose they are pretty violent, though.

That’s the thing, though - I don’t think they are. There’s hardly any blood, and regardless of what people might think, it’s all pretty cartoony.
To my mind, games like CoD and R6V are much more violent because their violence is far more serious, up close and personal.

I agree with you completely. BBFC ratings are all about “context”, which is what probably gets GTA an 18. “War” is legal, after all.

I still think it’s the sex that gets it the 18 rating rather than the violence. Regardless of how rubbish the sex is.
