God. Is it going to solve Third World debt as well? Janco analyst Mike Hickey reckons GTA IV could sell 5.8 million units in its first week on sale in the US, depending on availability.
Super-analyst Michael Pachter has already said that he expects the game to sell up to 6 millon copies in the first week.
And global equality for all. Who knew Rockstar would save the planet?

Why not 5.9m? Or 5.7m? I never cease to be amused by the analyst paradox of conjuring nonsensically precise figures to convey authority and expertise.

I assume he’s arrived at the figure using, you know, a spreadsheet or something. There must be some method to it.

Most certainly some comparison to sales of earlier instalments plus a graph of the Halo series projected over the install base of the PS3 and XB360.
Not just “Could you think of a number between 38 and 60 dear”
“58″
“Ta!”
