Well, he didn't say "tell you kids to stop sitting inside reading books all day," did he?

The quote above, on it's own and without context misses out on the message he was delivering. He isn't attacking video-games. He wants to promote activities for kids that are beneficial to their social and academic education.

The whole message was wholly positive yet surprise, surprise, a little bit of it is taken out and spun a little.

It's a vicious circle - they write the crap, we report it, they get the clicks and write even more. The only solution is to stop reading it. Some might say 'education' was a better solution, but when did that ever work?

On the flip slide Obama is bitching about both telly and games here, so fair play - kids probably do watch the screen more than they should.

Wow!

Seems like games are a politicians favourite whipping boy these days.

I'm sure that most of their target voters will be gamers within the next 5-10 years, so what will they do then??

He is right. My little girl can hit my keyboard in a random fashion and she isn't even two. I'll have her writing books before she's four, games or no games.

He's right! If we don't teach our kids to read and write now, who's going to write inane banter on the gaming forums of tomorrow, eh? Eh?
