A Sonic trailer is always going to show pure speed, it's a little early to judge it on just that. Anyway, aren't most platformers just ‘push right and hit jump occasionally.’</description>

Seriously, the original 3 sonic games where fast in places, there was plenty of timed jumping and traditional platforming, MIXED in with the speed. That's what sonic is about for me, as well as the multiple paths through levels.
