PSP Firmware 3.95 available “shortly”
April 8th, 2008 @ 07:05
According to this post on the US PlayStation blog, Eric Lempel, director of PSN operations, has confirmed that PSP Firmware 3.95 will be release “shortly”.
He also gave a few details of what to expect. It’s hardly earth shattering, but there we are.
- While playing PSone games on your PSP, you can now customize how the buttons are assigned by going to [Controller Settings] > [Assign Buttons] and select [Custom].
- You can now quit Remote Play and choose to turn off your PS3 or leave it on after quitting. This is useful if you are performing a download and want to quit Remote Play, but still want your download to continue on the PS3. Select [Quit and Turn Off the PS3 System] or [Quit Without Turning Off the PS3 System] from [Quit Remote Play] when you press the HOME button on the PSP system.

If would be nice if Remote Play actually worked via internet connection instead of just timing out all the time. It would also be nice if when you’re at a remote location and get internet access through a web-browser i.e. 99% of places, you can quit to dash and still remain online to access Remote Play.
It might actually start to be really cool if they do that.

It works at home over Private Connection which is still pretty cool but obviously to whole idea is accessing your PS3 whilst in Sudan etc. I can’t get that to work, tbh. Also, quitting to dash from the browser and remaining online is a must for it to work in airports etc.
