iPhone will soon be able to interface with PS3

In an interview with Gizmodo, Denny Breitenfeld, CTO of NetBlender, explained that Apple’s iPhone will soon be able to interface with PS3 thanks to a nearly-released SDK from the firm.
As well as allowing iPhone to act as a PS3 remote, the new SDK that “will allow studios, independent movie companies to enable BD Touch features. These features send data in two directions from the Disc to the iPhone and vice versa. Video, audio, text, and player commands can be sent,” he said. “So right now it seems everyone likes the ‘remote control’ idea. However the player can control the iPhone as well.”
It’s all very theoretical at the moment with possible uses being bandied around like the ability to record and track your movie collection and playback habits. It could also support portable copies of Blu-ray films to be played back on your iPhone or Touch, similar to the portable copy idea for the PSP.
“One idea is to automatically pull up [IMDB] of the movie you are watching right on your iPhone or send the movie information a movie database on your phone. The ideas are only limited to what people want and will use,” added Breitenfeld.

Not sold on the touch pad for typing. That’s the only thing that’s wrong with it, as far as I’m concerned.

Yeah, the typing can definitely be a bit fiddly.

Ooo, interesting!
Maybe I’ll retire my old Nokia N80 when that gets released.
