GTA IV Euro bundle looking increasingly likely - picture
April 10th, 2008 @ 12:37

That Grand Theft Auto IV bundle for Europe’s starting to look a lot more plausible.
A reader from the Netherlands has also contacted us with an image of what he claims to be a release list from retailer Bartsmit. As you can see here, “Playstation 3 Gta-4 pack” is listed as an April 29 release.
GI’s also reporting that Shopto has confirmed the pack for Europe.
“We know for a fact it is coming out in Europe and we are expecting an announcement in the UK any time,” Igor Cipolletta, COO of Shopto.com, told the site.
“We are not sure if Gem or Centresoft are distributing it yet, that seems to be the hold up.”
SCEE’s already put this down as “rumour and speculation”. Guess we’ll know soon enough.

I’m raising this to “99% likely”. £289 for a PS3 and GTA essentially brings the 40gb model down to under £250. Which almost makes it seem ‘approaching reasonably priced’.

Hey, have you seen ‘PS3 Dual Shock, 02/05/08′ on that list in the picture?

And ‘Playstation 3 Metal Gear Pack’!
:-D

Multiplayer.it lists it too, in Italy.

What Blerk said.
The possible announcement of DualShock 3 for 2nd May and a MGS pack for 12th June is much more exciting.
Unless it’s just another 40GB bundle, of course.

It might not make sense to go for the GTA bundle now unless you’re really desperate. Probably a better bet to wait for the MGS bundle on the off-chance that it has a DS3 chucked in with it.
Anyway, I’m sure this pack will do ‘brisk business’ for Sony. Thumbs up, for a change.

It seems odd that Sony would bring out three bundles in such quick succession - the GT5: Prologue one has hardly had a chance to settle into retail. Mind you, I can’t argue against their choice of titles.
It’s probably wishful thinking, but part of me wonders if they’re going to follow the GTAIV 40GB bundle up so soon with a MGS4 one as a means of introducing the Dualshock 3 to the packs. After all, the two could quite happily sit alongside each other if MGS4 had a slight price premium over GTAIV and bundled a DS3. If they made MGS4 an 80GB PS3 with BC it’d make even more sense to offer both at roughly the same time.

Blerk: Could already get the PS3 with a game for £280 in lots of places. I’m still waiting for DS3 and LBP though!

Yeah, but that was generally something fairly old like Assassin’s Creed or whatever, which potentially saves you only £25-£30 max.

*twitch*
Pretty much the only thing stopping me buying a PS3 now is the prospect of teh gamerpointz on the 360 version.

Blerk: It was DMC4, but I see what you’re saying.

patlike: I wouldn’t make any decisions like that until you’ve seen the reviews. Who knows how both versions will turn out. =)

Still don’t know why MS are doing similar stuff. Weird.
The MGS4 pack makes me want to buy another one!!

PT - That’s true

Blerk - Thanks for, like, reading that. I hate myself sometimes.

If only I had something better to do!

It’s true. Sony Computer Entertainment Portugal has confirmed it to this Portuguese site:
http://gameover.sapo.pt/article.html?id=38399
It’s all in Portuguese but it says Sony confirmed the bundle but gave no further information about it.
