April 10th, 2008 @ 10:44

The latest edition of PS3’s Firmware, 2.30, will be released on April 15, according to this XtremePS3 report. The site’s carrying a rough translation of a Japanese announcement on the SCEJ site, which says:
Sony PlayStation 3 online service will be renewed on April 15th, 2008 (Tuesday) evening. This will renew and expand the store by adding functionality described below:
- New interface and navigation improvements
- Preview video content using still images
- New download categories added
After the update, PS3 System Software 2.30 will be available.
The new PS Store will be released at the same time. Although not explicitly announced, you can assume this will be a global affair. We’re just checking with SCEE.
Update: Here’s the Japanese press release.
