March NPD data: Explosive US market up 57% year-on-year

NPD figures released last night show that both Michael Pachter and Colin Sebastian underestimated sales in the US last month - the analysts predicted growth of 47 percent and 35 percent respectively - as the American sector increased 57 percent year-on-year.
The total value of the US games market in March was $1.7 billion, compared to the $1.1 billion posted in March 2007.

- Software: $945.6m (+63%)
- Hardware: $551.3m (+46%)
- Accessories: $220m (+58%)
- Total Games: $1.7 billion (+57%)

Good question. My brain’s a bit cooked to “do the math” but I suspect you’re right: take out Wii and DS and it’d be a pretty sorry picture.

Regarding your first post Blerk. MS just said they are the number one money maker this gen. I guess that is for home consoles only.
