Konami Europe issues MGO beta delay statement

April 21st, 2008 @ 11:16

Just got this from Konami:

“The interest in the Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta is incredibly high, with an extremely large number of users downloading the software from the PlayStation Store today. The Konami ID servers may not be able to meet all the demand and Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH recommends users try the Game ID/Konami ID registration process over the following days. Do not worry if you do not complete the registration today, as the play time will not start until Monday 21st April, so everyone who wishes to join the MGO experience will be able to register the necessary Game ID and Konami ID in the next few days.”

Sounds as though everything could happen as planned on April 21 in Europe, at least. Fingers crossed.

    Right hand: Sorry, whassat?
    :(

Author, You do know today’s date, yes? Sounds like you got issued a pre-prepared memo that was intended to be released over the weekend, or something.

  2. They just sent me that. Like, half an hour ago.

  3. Or an hour ago :)

  4. But yeah, you may be right. I’ll ask.

  5. It’s been April 21 all day today.

I don’t doubt you’ve only just received it, patlike :) but the statements are all projected. In fact, reading it once more, it’s actually about the trouble with beta ID signup, not the servers incinerating under pressure. I’m not getting at your coverage in any way (wouldn’t dare!), but this Konami Europe statement’s a little less than relevant, it appears.

I would guess it were created on the day that the MGO beta software was put on the store, in recognition of teething problems with the Konami ID signup system..

  7. Lawl! Does anyone else lack a serious amount of confidence in this being anything other than shambolic when it does finally roll out?

Gimme Battlefield: Bad Company any day of the week…

Hang on let me figure this out…

Do I lack confidence that this will be shit? Are you saying it’s going to be good?
