GTA IV will release in Japan this year
April 23rd, 2008 @ 12:38
According to Watch Impress, Capcom will handle GTA IV distribution in Japan this year.
The site doesn’t give a specific date, unfortunately, but Japanese GTA fans will be glad to know the game will make it out over there this year.
As far as we know, Capcom’s handled every GTA game in Japan since GTA III, but feel free to tell us otherwise if we’re wrong.

No, I think you’re right. Although I seem to recall that San Andreas never actually got a Japanese release.

Nah SA sold 227K in the first week it came out in Japan apparently (http://kotaku.com/gaming/media-create/gta-san-andreas-bitch-slaps-japan-sales-charts-233338.php). I think it’s safe to predict a Z rating to GTA IV when it hits over there.

GTA games always sold really well in Japan. I found that pretty strange.

Even more surprising when you realise that they censor the bollocks out of them too. That’s why they take so long to make it to the shelves over there - the Japanese censors don’t take lightly to killing innocents and stuff.
