Greg Zeschuk: Wii provides “toy” experience
April 24th, 2008 @ 06:35
Speaking to GameDaily, BioWare boss Greg Zeschuk has likened Wii’s offering to toys as opposed to “games”.
“I think another, tangential view on that is those kinds of experiences are much more like a toy experience,” he said, speaking of the Nintendo machine. “They’re playing, together or not, but you’re not ‘gaming’ anymore. What’s different than you actually playing tennis?”
He added: “If gaming is defined by story, then generally Wii may not be.”
Zeschuk is the second major developer to have a pop at Wii in the past week: Epic’s Mike Capp’s called the console a “virus” over the weekend.

Heh heh - these PC-flavoured guys really don’t like the Wii, do they?

Well, we at eg.de had an interview with the alone in the dark lead designer, HervĂ© Sliwa, a few months ago. He also called most Wii games “toy games” back then. A really good analogy if you ask me.
cheers,
Alex
