Senior Retro staffers “escorted from premises”, closure rumour scotched
April 24th, 2008 @ 07:39

According to Shacknews, “design director Mark Pacini, art director Todd Keller, and principal technology engineer Jack Mathews were escorted” from Retro Studios’ premises “last Friday”.
The news comes after several rumours popped up this week that the outfit was closing. The site claims this simply isn’t true.
IGN posted this last night, confirming the departures.
No one appears to have any idea what actually happened, but SN is speculating that the three may have “left” to form a new company.
The Metroid developer will continue to work on Wii games, say both stories.

Why would they ever lop the top bods off and then keep the studio? Something’s afoot.

Surfer Girl just said that “something went down”. Could be anything, innit. Could be a project went wrong, they didn’t agree with something… anything.

I said Halo 4 over on EG as a joke, but then I remembered that story about Microsoft hiring a team for Peter Jacksons Halo thing. Creative Director, Producer, Engineers according to 1Up, so it’s a fit…

If they made a Halo that was more adventurey and less shooty then I might be a bit more interested.
