Xbox 360 sales up 68% for first quarter

According to this AFP report, Microsoft’s reported first quarter financials that show the company’s Xbox division’s sales have risen sharply year-on-year. From the piece:
Microsoft’s Xbox 360 video game consoles were among the company’s better performers, with sales growing 68 percent as compared with the same period last year.
“The breadth of our product offerings and our ability to provide solutions across a range of customer and partner needs paid off again this quarter,” said Microsoft chief operating officer Kevin Turner.
The piece doesn’t give any specific figures for Microsoft’s Xbox business and we can’t find the full release right now, but the full corporation’s financials are just baffling: apparently profits slipped to $4.38 billion in the first three months of the year despite revenues rising slightly to $14.45 billion.

I think this must relate to ‘overall’ sales for the Xbox division rather than just console sales, because the year-on-year sales figures for 360s certainly don’t show a 68% rise.
Still, it’s genuinely nice to know that there is still money to be made in the industry if your name doesn’t end in “endo”.
