According to this Siliconera piece, Nippon Ichi’s releasing a Japanese update for Disgaea 3 which includes ten super-powerful playable characters. You get them to join your group by having Mao at a certain level when you beat the game. You can see the available characters - or nine of them, at least - here. The tactical RPG is promised for western release for PS3 later this year.
