IGN gives GTA IV a 10
April 26th, 2008 @ 09:01
The first online review of GTA IV’s gone live, and IGN’s given the game a perfect score. As ever, the piece is 16 years long, but you can see the verdict here. The last bit:
I could go on and on about why Grand Theft Auto IV is one of the best games we’ve ever seen and why even folks who are easily offended should play it, but that would be pointless. The only thing you need to know is that you have to play this game. Period.
Everyone else is going live with their reviews on Sunday. If anyone gives it a nine they’ll probably be lynched, so good luck with that.

“The only thing you need to know is that you have to play this game. Period.”
My other favourite bit is where the reviewer says we’ve been told about “living, breathing” cities in the past, but it was always nonsense. UNTIL NOW.

I’ll never read it, to be honest.

@ Tom.
I guess that’s the kind of stuperlatives that gets you timed exclusives.
(or aren’t IGN the reason for that embargo?)
cheers,
Alex

Script worthy of an Oscar if my fave. Please give it an 8/10, Tom. PLEEEEEASE?

We won’t be reviewing on Sunday. Looks like our Bully review has pissed Rockstar off. How childish.

I’m hoping the game deserves the 10 and that they didn’t just give it a 10 because of a deal they made with R*.
We all know what happened when IGN sponsored Pro Evo 2008….

That’s rubbish, Harry, especially given that yours was probably the most accurate review of Bully that I’ve seen

Who do you write for, Harry? That’s really harsh.

It’s just a guess that’s why we didn’t get the game. I can’t say for certain this is why we didn’t get code. But it’s unusual and rather coincidental. The only thing that’s changed since I played the game at Rockstar and now is that we posted that 7/10 for Bully on X360.
