First GTA IV launch report from London: NO PHOTOS
April 29th, 2008 @ 10:27
Take. A. Camera. So cruel. Anyhoo, Boomtown’s posted about midnight GTA IV openings at Tesco and Asda stores in west London, and it was no bed of roses from the sound of it. From the piece:
At one local West London Tesco store the mood was ugly just before midnight. The store was only holding 33 copies of the PlayStation 3 version and 27 copies of GTA IV on Xbox 360. So just sixty copies for over 100 very grumpy people waiting in line…
The eight am store opening at another local (non-24 hour) Tesco was sedate and well mannered by comparison. With people chatting in line waiting for the store to open. But just 20 copies would be available.
More through the link. We’ve added it to the list.

There was no way I was taking my camera. I’d have been robbed.

I’d have been very out of pocket if I’d been turned over last night. That’s life on the edge though, right there

I’d have starred in my own little GTA as a victim.
Officer: And what kind of camera was it?
Me: A canon 40D.
Officer: Was it expensive?
Me: Boo hoo hoo
Seriously. It was damn nasty at the first place I went to. Half the people there were drinking stuff they’d just nicked off the shelves.

I was tempted to take some pictures of the launch from my local Asda, using my phone, but I reckon I would have had my head kicked in had I stood around taking pictures of people.

As soon as you get your camera out people act like rock stars, if you’ll forgive the pun. But yeah, getting a 40D nicked wouldn’t have been ideal.
