Okami’s coming out on June 13 in Europe, according to Eurogamer. Not a lot to add to that, really. Other than, “Make sure you buy it.”

  1. The footage on Gamer.TV (RIP) at the weekend made me o_O a bit. The ‘drawing’ bits actually looked really bloody fiddly - the guy was having a really hard time just doing a straight line. It was easy with the analogue sticks!

I still prefer the ‘look’ of the PS2 version too. But don’t let me put you off. Just… if there’s a choice, I still think you’ll be better off with the original.

  2. Hey, check this story out:

Capcom stiffs Clover and removes all the staff’s names from the credits of the Wii version!

I hope they didn’t also remove the frankly brilliant song that plays at the end of the game. It’s amazingly good!

  3. I love the Wii and thought Okami was perfect for it. Now I realise it was a DS version I should have been wishing for. It’s not the remote itself that’s the problem, it’s the implementation of it. Clover made it very forgiving, so if you drew a squareish sun, it’d still rise.

Ready At Dawn have actually made it harder to get right. It’s quicker to pull off a quick slash than in the PS2 game, and things like the bombs are easy to draw. But those trees which throw fruit at you and you have to deflect them back? That’s absolutely rock solid. You need pinpoint precision, and they’ve not nailed the sensitivity settings.

Straight lines are fine, though. You just need to hold Z while you’re drawing. A lot of people seem to have missed this, actually. Loads of reviews have said “it’s impossible to do a straight line” when it’s clearly not.

And yeah, the PS2 version looks nicer. I found the graphics to be oddly blurry on Wii.

Still a great game, but it should have been so much more.
