Prince of Persia article better translated, sounds promising
April 30th, 2008 @ 15:45

Oli Eurogamer can speak French, and has worked his way through Joypad’s Prince of Persia article to produce something a bit more readable than this. Taste:
He heals the land by killing boss guardians, in the style of Shadow of the Colossus or Twilight Princess, and unleashing the power of the light-wells they guard. The land is then transformed in real-time - unlike Okami’s cut-scenes - with grass growing and lighting and colour changing dynamically as the Prince moves through the world.
Although combat is still an important part of the game, enemies will be much less numerous and more vicious. The emphasis is on one-on-one swordfighting duels, with a very dynamic camera. It’s described as being more Soul Calibur than God of War.
The new Prince of Persia game’s out for PC, PS3 and 360 this year. Expect to see more from Ubidays at the end of May.

I reckon it could be great! Sounds like all the best bits of character-driven action/adventure/fighting. Assuming it isn’t shit, it might be brilliant.

But I don’t want the best bits of fighting. Nobody played PoP for the fighting. I just want to mash buttons like a fucker and disembowel things that are getting in my way of exploring and platforming.

I actually like the idea of more one on one fighting. God of War and Devil May Cry have got the multiple enemy kills market sewn up anyway, I’d like to see PoP develop a more unique combat system.
Either way, the combat should definitely take a back seat to the platforming for this series. Personally, I’m surprised Ubisoft have decided to make this a PS3/360 series. I thought with all the motion controls, this series would have been a great fit for the Wii.

Didn’t work out very well for the Wii last time though, did it?

Combat focussed again then?

Oh and let’s see if Ubisoft even manage to make a cel-shaded game tear its own arse out
