Im of the belief that Cansolevania and in part Videogaiden have been the only “games shows” that have actually ever been about games and nothing but games.

The rants from series 2 of Videogaiden were exactly what games TV should be about and the reviews are concise and well done. I dunno maybe its just me :p

I wonder what happened?

absolutezero: I can get Videogaiden via satellite and it’s a great comedy show, but I’m not convinced it’s a great gaming show.

Well, the production company was Lighthouse. They own the IP. The show was licensed to Bravo exclusively in the UK and funded by IMG, the same people that do Transworld Sport. It wasn’t made for Bravo, as such. IMG made the show and Bravo bought it. It was broadcast all over the world. Quite surprised it’s gone tits up, tbh.

The show was produced by an external company for Bravo. Sounds to me like they decided not to do it any more so Bravo’s just brought the whole thing in-house. And they’d have to, really - it’s one of their highest-rated shows.

No, that’s good - it looks like Playr is more than likely just going to be Gamer.TV without the Gamer.TV name.

Anyway, according to the Bravo forums:
“Yes, gamer.tv is soon to be no more but this had nothing to do with us; It was a business decision forced upon the production company that we could do nothing about.

The good news is there will be a NEW gaming show coming VERY soon that will be even better. We should know, it’s being made by the same people!

Bravo remains 100% committed to the gaming community, especially now that the next-gen consoles are starting to get some fantastic titles. Watch this space!”

… which is pretty good news. The voiceover guy was a bit annoying and they approached everything from a bit too much of a ‘lad’ angle, but they were a decent enough show and pretty much the only place to get proper game reviews on your telly. I hope they’re back soon.

But how terrible is that? Shut ‘em down the week before the GTA review? DISASTER!
