VG247 Thursdays - The extreme dental pain edition

May 1st, 2008 @ 20:40

Just wanted to say a quick sorry for the patchy coverage today. I had a wisdom tooth removed on Tuesday afternoon, which was accompanied by an unfortunate side effect of leaving me feeling as though I’ve been mouth-fucked by a road drill. Is it normal for a mad dentist to make you feel as though your jaw’s about to actually break off when he’s doing this sort of shit, then leave you with a huge, bleeding wound with no stitches, etc? Apparently so. Anyway, apologies for the sporadic updates, and hopefully Captain Heal will do his healing banana tonight and I’ll be back on form tomorrow.

Click through for a picture of my amazing tooth. Warning: it’s red because that’s the colour of blood.

  1. :D

  2. I had four wisdom teeth out in one go and my face puffed up like one of those fish you see on nature programmes. And I had loads of bruising on my chest. I suspect they were kneeling on me or something while I was out. :-D

  3. I’ve had a tooth out before, on the lower left side, but this was much worse. I thought my fucking jaw was going to snap. Yesterday afternoon was a bit of a nightmare. I ended up passing out for two hours, which is why the news was shit. Caught up now, though.

No, your dentist sucks, find a new one. I’ve had to have two teeth out in the past 3 years, first time I felt exactly what you described. That prompted my registering at a different practice, at which my second extraction was immeasurably less unpleasant.

Either your dentist didn’t numb your mouth properly, or else they were just plain rough. Either way, find somewhere else to take care of your dentistry.

  5. There was no pain as such - apart from the needles, obv - but there was definitely a lot of “stretching” going on. It feels a lot better today, anyhoo. But yeah, maybe you’re right.
