Chun-Li was main reason to write SF movie script, says author

Justin Marks, the writer of the Street Fighter movie script, has said that the main draw to working on the franchise was Chun-Li’s character. Reasonable, we guess.
“Honestly, Chun-Li was the main reason I was first interested in writing the movie, and she’s the reason why this movie is different,” he said in this JobLo interview.
“Everyone knows the stigma that comes with the typical game adaptation, and saying we’re going to do this story from a unique perspective within the Street Fighter universe was a way of saying, right off the bat, that this wasn’t going to be your ordinary game-to-film venture.”
There’s tons more through the link, including the fact that there are “nods to signature moves” in the action, but that the film’s “grounded in reality”. Go see.
