According to this IGN story, between 80,000 and 100,000 units of the 40Gb MGS4 PS3 bundle are to be made available in Japan.
No word on how many we’re going to see in Europe as yet. In case you missed it, the Euro MGS4 PS3 bundle was announced at the SCEE PlayStation Day yesterday.

That’s quite optimistic given that they’ve been selling less than 10,000 a week for the last few weeks.

The Japanese do love their limited editions… who knows, it might work.

MGS is a proper major deal for teh Japporneese. But yeah, I never thought of that. It’d have to be some spike to move them all.
