Zelnick claims GTA IV is glitch-free

May 7th, 2008 @ 08:35

Speaking in this CNBC interview, Take-Tweo chairman Strauss Zelnick has claimed that there are no technical problems with GTA IV at all.

When asked about any issues with the game, Zelnick replied, “No, none whatsoever. I’d say the only issue is that someone came up to me yesterday in a restaurant and said my thumbs were hurting from the weekend.”

Genius. This lot are all tripping then, presumably. Thanks, Maxconsole.

  1. Uh-oh. That tone is unjustified.

I’ve had the game freeze on me twice during heavy action. One time it failed to load up after repeated resets.

    This game has issues.
    Zelnick has issues.

  2. What.

  3. Okay, this may be old, but giving the unpredictable nature of the freezes (I had one too), and the fact that shutting down the internet connection helps, I have a strong feeling this is a server related problem. One R* couldn’t possibly test for, since it’s probably got to do with the massive amounts of people connecting at the same time from a wide variety of providers and network settings worldwide. Does anyone remember Xbox Live’s problems after the Halo3 launch?

Therefore this cannot be patched on the client side, or it must be a workaround (i.e. a patch that makes the game not automatically connect to the network).

Mine has crashed about 5 times now (X360). My ‘box isn’t connected to LIVE at the moment, I’m only playing single player.

They all happen at random times and there doesn’t seem to be any pattern to it. I thought it might have been just after you complete a mission but it’s happened twice in cut scenes.

Fortunately, thanks to the game’s bitesize mission structure it hasn’t impeded my progress or enjoyment too much, as at worst I just have to restart the mission I was doing when it froze, but it’s pretty annoying all the same.
