Analyst reveals giant mark-up on 360 hard drive
May 8th, 2008 @ 06:51

Sorry, we’re a bit late on this, but MTV got an analyst to break the cost of a 120Gb Xbox 360 hard drive down, and found that it actually costs Microsoft around $100. There’s a bit of a difference between that figure and the retail price of $180.
And if you think that’s funny, Americans, you’ll be glad to know that the same drive in the UK costs £130 or $254.
Alternatively, you could just buy a PS3 and swap the 40Gb drive with a 250Gb SATA drive for about £80. Just a thought.

Sony have got Pat bad! It’s all over!

either that or the whole overpriced, non standard, proprietary hardware pisses him off.

Heh.
I do have to say, the whole issue about the 360 is pretty bloody shocking. I’m shocked, anyway.

It probably costs my sandwich lady about 60p per sandwich, but she might sell them for £1.50.
Do you think that I should tell her to bring her prices down and stop ripping us off??
What kind of evil money making scheme is she plotting here…?

A sandwich-based one?

Mmm… sandwich.
Also, Pat in “use of the word shocking” shocker.

Stretching the terrible analogy further, you could always make your own sandwiches for less money. Which is what the situation is for PS3 owners.
Just mind the crumbs.
