Rare on Banjo: “Crown jewel gameplay mechanic” to be shown in US tomorrow
May 12th, 2008 @ 12:20

Speaking to videogaming247 this morning, Rare community manager George Kelion said that the leaked Banjo shots from tomorrow’s MS Gamer’s Day don’t show the meat of the game.
“You can’t tell altogether that much from the screenshots other than the fact that it’s pretty,” he said.
“We haven’t revealed the gameplay mechanic yet, which is the crown jewel of the game. So people really are better off waiting until tomorrow when we’ll be revealing it in-depth.”
Kelios was at pains to tell us that the rather beautiful next-gen version of the bear’s adventures certainly isn’t a racing game. Just so you know.
Banjo will be shown to the press at 5pm BST in San Francisco tomorrow.

The gameplay “quirk” is the construction set bit. Gotta be.
it might be the only thing that’ll make me buy a BK game.

Anyone heard of the Wiimote for 360? A few folks are speculating that Banjo will be used to showcase it it. Apparently MS has licensed the same technology Nintendo licensed for the Wii. We will see tomorrow… Wacky MS…

George K from Rare says that Banjo uses traditional controls… so I’d be surprised if the motion sensing thing is true (at least for Banjo).

Yeah, maybe Viva Pinata 2 will use it. I think I’ll ask them if I can.

Thanks Psychotext, hopefully MS will stay away from the gyro gizmos. Banjo was one of my faves on the N64 and hopefully they do it justice on the 360.
