Sega signs Platinum trio
May 12th, 2008 @ 13:19
Update: Properly not our fault.
Sega’s signed three games from Platinum Games, the studio formed from ex-Clover staffers - including Resident Evil legend Shinji Mikami - after the Capcom closed the outfit. The deal was announced at a press conference in London on Monday.
The three titles are:
- Bayonetta, directed by DMC creator Hideki Kamiya, and is described as a “stylish action game” with “a witch battling angels”. Apparently she has guns on her feet.
- A science-fiction RPG for the DS called Infinite Line, where you play as a starship captain, customising your ship and crew.
- A Wii game called MadWorld. According to an attendee at the conference, the game has, “Black and white Sin City graphics, with red blood. Ultra ultra violent. Fatality moves like shoving a post through someone’s head. Chainsaw on your right arm.”

Great to see these guys with a publishing deal again - looking forward to seeing what they’ve been up to.
Nobody seems to be saying what platform Bayonetta is for, though. Anyone know?

I have to admit to being a teensie bit disappointed, actually. I don’t much like DMC so another ’stylish action game’ in the same mould doesn’t really fire me up. Mad World could be neat, but again I’m not really buying the ‘ultra ultra violence’ thing. The best bet for me appears to be Infinite Line, but I completely hate playing RPGs on the DS.

I’ve got into DS RPGs in a big way thanks to Squenix releasing some quality games lately so Infinite Line’s the one i’m most interested in also.

The only one to catch my eye is the DS game.

Yeah. Sorry about that. Something of a “breakdown” in communication.
