Konami’s US 2008 showcase event: all the games, all the shots

Shacknews has posted all the screens and loads of impressions from last night’s US Konami event on one page. This is a good thing. Head over for shots of:

Combat looks… floaty. None of the weapons actually seem to connect. And there are on-screen prompts and health guages and button-hammering mini-games. Disappointing.

Hmm. I really can’t make my mind up. I just watched them all and it seems OK. I’m not really that up on the other games, so I wouldn’t really know how it compares, tbh. There doesn’t seem to be anything particularly stand-out about it, though.

I think that’s precisely the problem. The fans were hoping/expecting the series to move with the times, not for it just to be a kind of ‘best of the other games in hi-def by some other developer’.

It does pretty much look like the Silent Hill I played 100 years ago. But then, I enjoyed it, so that’s fine. I think you’re right, though: it doesn’t look as though it’s going to be breaking any records.
