Nelson on “leaked” Live update: “This is not the list you’re looking for”

Speaking in the latest Major Nelson podcast, the man himself and permanent guest “E” have said categorically that a list of supposed Live update feature that circulated last week is, essentially, bullshit.

“Sometime last week there was an amusing list that kind of made its rounds,” said the Major. “Now this list was a list that was allegedly leaked from inside Microsoft and had all sorts of features for an upcoming update. I think the official PR answer was… ‘We do not comment on rumours and speculation, but we’ve never seen this list before.’

E and I can tell you, from people working on the product team, because we don’t work on the PR team, we’ve never seen that list before… This is not the list you’re looking for. Move along.”

E added, “You won’t be seeing this coming to a dashboard near you.”

Microsoft PR, speaking to Joystiq last week, had already said the list hadn’t been seen before, but just in case there was any confusion, now there isn’t. You can read the supposed update list at that link.

It’s a shame really because there was some good stuff in there.

  3. Just some chap’s wishlist, obviously.

  4. Knowing MS, it’ll all be true anyway!

  5. the best way to confirm something is to completely deny it. The fact Nelson took the time to actually even mention it means some or all of it is true.

  6. It really doesn’t. The list was so obviously BS right from the start that I’m surprised anybody took it seriously. It included just about everything that people had been asking for, something which the real list almost certainly won’t.

  7. Then why if it was bullshit mention it at all ? Surely the best course of action in these kind of matters is just to completely ignore it altogether. I just find it silly why Nelson even had to mention it at all.

Of course some if not all of it was bullshit by him denying it though means people are going to believe it to be true even more.
